LiveScan

How it works

From intake to submission in four steps

One station, one operator, one screen per step. The desktop app drives the scanner, the web app holds the record, and nothing is typed after intake.

The operator flow

Intake

Enter only what the record needs: name, date of birth, physical description, place of birth and citizenship, address, and the reason the applicant is being printed. Scan the barcode on a driver's license to prefill most of it. The same rules the submission validator runs flag a problem while it is still cheap to fix, and the draft saves on every field.

The only typing in the flow

Capture

The desktop host guides the applicant finger by finger: four-finger slaps, both thumbs, then each rolled print. Every impression is scored with NFIQ 2 on the spot, and a weak print is flagged for a retake before you move on. Missing or bandaged fingers are recorded with the standard codes.

Touch or scanner only

Review

All ten prints and the record on one screen. Print the FD-258 card as a PDF, download the EFT file, or send a secure link by email or QR code to the applicant or their channeler. Nothing leaves the station until you accept it.

Done

Where a state has approved us, the record is queued and sent electronically. Its status shows next to the applicant: queued, sent, acknowledged or rejected, with the agency's response word for word. Everywhere else the card and the EFT file are the output. Files are deleted on a fixed schedule: 30 days after the agency acknowledges, 90 days if a record is never submitted.

What a station needs

Install the desktop app, sign in once, and the station pairs itself to your location.

A Windows PC Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, with a free USB port. A touch screen helps; a keyboard is only used at intake.
One supported scanner Thales DactyScan84c, Integrated Biometrics Kojak or Suprema RealScan-10. Capability notes.
An internet connection Records and prints save to the server as you go, so a refresh or a reboot never loses a capture in progress.
An operator login The account owner invites operators; each one signs in with their own username and every record keeps who captured it.

Questions operators ask

  • Do you capture a photo or a signature?

Not in the first release. The Arkansas CHCL record and the FBI civil record do not need them. A signature pad and a photo are planned for agencies that require them.

  • What happens if the connection drops during a capture?

Every accepted print is already on the server. When the station is back online the operator continues from the next finger; nothing is captured twice.

  • How many stations and operators can one account have?

As many as you need. Billing counts stations per month; operators, locations and applicants are unlimited.

  • Who can operate a station?

Anyone the account owner invites. Operators sign in with their own username, so every record keeps who captured it. For Arkansas, each operator confirms fingerprint training in the app before their first live capture.

  • What happens when a state rejects a record?

The rejection appears in the location's inbox with the agency's message word for word and our plain-language note on what to fix. Most rejections are a retake or a corrected field, then a resubmission.

  • Can I use a scanner I already own?

Yes, if it is one of the three supported devices: Thales DactyScan84c, Integrated Biometrics Kojak or Suprema RealScan-10. Single-finger readers cannot produce the rolled prints an applicant record needs.
